Mandatory C1 Academic English Classes will be held on Wednesdays 10.15-11.45. On-site classes start on March 1

Before the classes start class details will be sent to students’ email addresses registered in USOS. In the summer semester – there will be two groups – please check your group below. There is no need to register to your group in USOS – it will be done by the Foreign Language Centre.

Students who QUALIFY for the exemption from C1 Academic English should contact: joanna.szymanska@pw.edu.pl and enclose a scan of the relevant certificatestudent ID number, faculty (Architecture), and semester of study (I-VI). All students – to complete the foreign language curriculum, must do 180 credit hours of foreign languages, including: 

  • 60 hours of mandatory C1 Academic English – for all students (unless they qualify for exemption – see above) 
  • 60 hours of mandatory Polish – for international students

General information

  1. All students must take 180 credit hours of a foreign language before successfully completing their programme of study.
  2. Foreign language courses are incorporated in the model curriculum of studies for semesters 1,2,3, but in individual cases it can be implemented in any semester.
  3. All international students must attend courses of English and Polish. 
  4. All Polish students must attend courses of English and another foreign language. 
  5. All students (both Polish and International) admitted to the Faculty must pass the English exam at C1 Academic level before successfully completing their study programme.

* Exemption from course attendance and the C1 Academic university examination

Students who have any of the recognized certificates (the list of certificates and the procedure available at www.sjo.pw.edu.pl) are exempted from the C1 Academic Exam AND participation in Academic English classes at C1 level, but they must use the available hours for other language classes – English at C2 level or other languages.
